The Bruges Christmas Markets are the perfect opportunity to head out of London for the day, and explore one of Europe's most delightful and picturesque cities. Described as the 'Venice of the North', Bruges will appeal not only to those who wish to get into the festive spirit, but also those who wish to wander around the city, taking in the medieval architecture, perusing the galleries and churches, or relaxing in a beer hall or cafe.
Enjoy your day in Bruges where you get a chance to explore the Christmas markets, sample the famous Belgium chocolate and have a skate around Bruges market square. After the day of festivities we head back to Calais in the early evening and arrive back in London around 11pm.
The Christmas Markets. A seasonal event, Bruges Christmas Markets run from the end of November throughour December every year. Bruges has two market places, and both offer an assortment of handmade gifts, decorations, food, drink, clothing and knick knacks. It is tradition to enjoy a fresh, hot waffle and mulled wine as you wander around the stalls. The array of famous Belgian chocolates made especially for Christmas, will delight those with a sweet tooth, otherwise they are lovely for a gift. Every year, a man-made ice rink is created in the centre of the Market Square, which adds an extra winter touch to the festive season..
